Seetec Sponsors Colleagues for Nationwide Darkness into Light Walk to Fundraise for Suicide Prevention

News 04 May 2023

At Seetec, preparation for Darkness into Light 2023 is underway for many of our colleagues who have all been offered sponsorship to take part in the nationwide suicide prevention walk on Saturday May 6th.

Pieta House, an organisation that supports people and communities with free professional mental health crisis services has held their Darkness into Light walk annually in parts of Dublin and the rest of the nation for fourteen years. Communities gather for the event at 4:15 a.m. to walk together in the dark and finish at daylight. The walk symbolises how, despite being in a dark situation, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. There are 11 walks available in Dublin and over 200 walks taking place in 15 other counties and parts of the UK also.

As an employee owned organisation, social value is embedded in everything we do. Seetec’s decision to sponsor our colleagues to take part in this event is part of our commitment to promoting social value through the three core pledges below developed by our Employee Council and colleagues from across the business.

  • People – we pledge to promote local skills and employment and reduce inequality.
  • Communities – we pledge to support growth and build healthier, more resilient communities.
  • Sustainability – we pledge to safeguard our planet.

Employee Champion and Senior HR Business Partner Sophie Finglas said: “Our Colleagues are delighted to represent Seetec and to have the opportunity to participate in Darkness into Light 2023 for suicide prevention. For weeks, we have been sharing our news and raising funds to support the heroic efforts of Pieta House and take on the Sunrise 5km. At Seetec, we strive to build healthier, more resilient communities through our work so being able to do this in our own hometowns alongside our neighbours, friends, colleagues and clients is a very proud moment.”

Our teams go above and beyond to support the individuals and businesses that use our services in their local communities. Through fundraising and volunteering, our employee owners are on a mission to deliver lasting social impact!
