Seetec to Deliver New Employment Supports for Traveller and Roma Community in Longford

News 01 September 2026

Seetec Ireland has been awarded funding to deliver the Traveller and Roma Local Employment Initiative in Longford, following the national announcement by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley, on the major expansion of the Traveller and Roma Local Employment Initiative Pilot Scheme.

The expansion of this dedicated service will provide an additional resource for Traveller and Roma people in Longford, providing employment supports designed to help them overcome barriers, access opportunities and build sustainable pathways into work. This represents an important step in creating greater access to employment opportunities for Traveller and Roma people in the county.

Seetec is proud to have been selected as one of eight organisations nationally to deliver the expanded initiative. The organisation will build on its experience delivering the Meath Traveller Employment Initiative, bringing culturally informed and community-centred support to Traveller and Roma people in Longford.

Noeleen Nannery, Operations Director at Seetec Ireland and Longford native, said:

“We are delighted that Longford has been included as one of the locations for the expansion of the Traveller and Roma Local Employment Initiative. It’s a really positive development for the county and we are proud to be delivering this additional service to support, local Traveller and Roma people on their journey into further training and employment.”

Bronagh Cafferkey, our Caseworker on the new service is looking forward to working closely with local partners and the communities over the coming months as we launch the programme.
